Surulere Regional League enters Week 3

It has been two eventful weeks for organizers and teams participating in the Surulere Regional league taking place at the National Stadium Surulere Lagos.

With 34 Teams participating in this one of a kind event, spectators have been constantly entertained with mind-blowing displays of football artistry, skills and goals.

According to the Vice President of the SRL Hamza Hakeem “Organizing a league of this magnitude has not been an easy one. Bringing all the teams together to align with the goals and objectives of the league has been the ideal focus.” The league which opens Wednesdays and runs until Fridays features 5 quality matches played everyday on the hockey and legacy pitches of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos.

With the array of talents on display, It is however not surprising to see top notch sports personalities, coaches, ex-players, agents and scouts gracing the stands. In the words of the head coach of Gateway Football club Abeokuta, Coach Hakeem Busari, the league is a good way to keep the boys busy and active. Lagos has a huge sporting population that continues to rise as more and more people come in to look for better opportunities and competition.

With week three in the offing, organizers have shown their drive for continuous improvement and development to make the league live up to its hype.

Teams like Box 2 Box and FC Bethel top Group A with 6 points in two games whilst Team 360 Fc, China Sunstars FC and Oluwasegun FC have all had it rough and are currently languishing at the bottom of the table.

In Group B, FC Hertta leads the pack whilst Puma FC and Surulere Warriors are at the bottom of the table. 

So far, players, fans and officials of teams have been well behaved during their matches and there has been no case of serious injury. Some have even termed the league the best that has happened to Surulere Football in a while.
